Note | Albert Lewis Fitch was born Oct. 3 1887 in Byron Center. I attended Albion College and graduated with honor in 1911. While a senior I assisted in the Physics Dept* I got my master's degree from Albion in 1912. I was the first state fellow from Albion to The University of Michigan and received my Ph.D in 1916. I taught in the Allegan High School, was research physicist with Western Electric in New York City 1916-19I9. I was on the faculty of University of Maine 1919-1937 and moved to New Sharon in the summer of 1937. Here I have been select man and on the school committee when the new school building was constructed. I have been president of Sandy River Electric Cooperative which failed to get the approval of Public Utilities Commission. I was president of the Franklin Farmer's Cooperative Telephone Cp. Which went under in 1954. |
